Community engagement and feedback are vital to the Kiryas Joel Safe Streets For All Safety Action Plan. Please see below on ways to get involved.
February 22 Public Open House
This open house meeting is a chance for the community to share your thoughts on how to improve traffic safety in the Village of Kiryas Joel for all travelers. Attendees learned about the plan and provided feedback. There was a brief presentation at 7:30 and staff from the consulting firm was available all evening to listen and answer questions.
Safe Streets For All Survey
This survey was distributed to residents and asked participants to evaluate strategies that would be helpful in making the streets of Kiryas Joel safer for all users. Strategies include enforcement of traffic laws, public information campaigns, increased pedestrian infrastructure, and public transit improvements. The survey also provides a map where residents can mark where they believe it is unsafe to walk or drive. The survey can be returned in four ways. Mailed back to the Village, handed in at Village Hall, handed to KJ Transit bus drivers, or brought to the February 22nd public open house.
Stakeholder Advisory Group
The Village has formed a Stakeholder Advisory Group (SAG) to help spread the word about the plan and provide feedback. SAG members represent public safety, emergency services, department of public works, KJ Transit, schools, local transportation services, and other municipal departments and groups who have insights into traffic issues in the area.
